AYO, Inc. ("AYO," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the AYO mobile application, website at ayotheapp.com, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
AYO is intended only for individuals aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have collected information from a minor, we will promptly delete it.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account information: name, date of birth, gender, sexual orientation, email address, phone number, password, and profile photos.
- Profile content: bio, interests, prompts, preferences, photos, videos, voice recordings, and other content you choose to share.
- Verification data: selfie videos used for photo verification, and, where required, government-issued ID information (handled by our verification partners and not stored on our servers in raw form).
- Communications: messages, video and audio call content for the limited purpose of safety moderation, and reports you submit.
- Payment information: processed by third-party payment processors (e.g., Apple App Store, Google Play, Stripe). We receive transaction metadata but not your full card number.
- Optional sensitive information: data you voluntarily share such as religion, ethnicity, political views, health, or relationship preferences. By providing this you give us your explicit consent to process it for matchmaking.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device & usage data: device identifiers, IP address, operating system, app version, language, time zone, crash logs, swipes, matches, screen views, and feature interactions.
- Location data: approximate (city/region) and, with your permission, precise location used to find nearby matches and detect fraud.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used on our website and certain in-app web views for authentication, analytics, and personalization.
1.3 Information from third parties
- Sign-in providers (Apple, Google, Facebook) when you choose to log in with them.
- Background and identity verification partners.
- Marketing, advertising, and analytics partners.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and operate your account and profile.
- Match you with other users based on preferences, location, and behavior.
- Power video speed dates, messaging, and other interactive features.
- Verify identity, detect fraud, and prevent abuse, harassment, and impersonation.
- Moderate content and live video to enforce our Community Guidelines.
- Send transactional, safety, and (with consent where required) marketing messages.
- Improve, personalize, and develop new features, including via machine learning.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
3. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions)
Where applicable, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you; your consent (which you may withdraw at any time); compliance with legal obligations; and our legitimate interests in operating a safe, useful, and commercially viable service.
4. How We Share Information
- With other users: your profile, photos, and any content you share are visible to users you are matched with or who can otherwise see your profile.
- Service providers: hosting, analytics, customer support, moderation, payments, communications, and verification vendors who process data on our behalf under contract.
- Corporate transactions: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to confidentiality.
- Legal and safety: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, protect rights and safety of users and the public, and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
- With your consent: any other sharing you direct or authorize.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share limited identifiers with advertising partners for measurement and personalized ads; in some jurisdictions this may be considered a "sale" or "share." You can opt out as described in Section 8.
5. Video Speed Dates and Recording
Video and audio during speed dates are streamed peer-to-peer where possible. We do not retain full recordings of dates by default. Short snippets may be temporarily captured for automated and human safety moderation (e.g., nudity, harassment, weapons detection). If you are reported, relevant content may be retained for investigation.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. After deletion, we may retain limited data in backups and for safety, fraud prevention, and legal purposes for a reasonable period.
7. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure; you use the Service at your own risk.
8. Your Rights and Choices
- Access, correction, deletion, portability: manage profile data in-app or contact hello@ayotheapp.com.
- Marketing opt-out: use the unsubscribe link in emails or device notification settings.
- Location & permissions: control via your device settings.
- EEA/UK: right to object, restrict, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): right to know, delete, correct, and opt-out of sale/sharing and certain targeted advertising; we will not discriminate for exercising these rights.
- "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information": submit a request to hello@ayotheapp.com.
9. International Transfers
We operate globally and may transfer your information to countries other than your own. Where required, we use safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service may contain links to or integrations with third-party services. Their practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for them.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice (e.g., in-app or by email). Continued use after changes means you accept them.
